In a hotel...

In a hotel, a client speaks to the receptionist.
- Could you please call me a taxi?
- Of course! What can I do for you, Mr. Ataxi?

Explanation

If you have been to a hotel with your family, you probable noticed the figure of the receptionist. You know: that person in a suit and who looks so serious, in the place where the room keys are asked for. They are people who, by dint of meeting many travellers from all around the world, have gotten used to the weirdest situations. Nonetheless, they are still normal human beings that can make a mistake at the end of a long and busy shift.

The funny thing in the joke is in the combination of those elements: the receptionist accepts in a very formal and serious way to the client's wishes; but for some reason (maybe tiredness or distraction) he doesn't really understand the instructions. He thinks that the client is asking him to change his name, not that he calls a taxi for him. But, since he's used to much weirder things, the receptionist does what thinks is expect of him with an impeccable professionalism. Furthermore, our imagination plays a part, portraying the image of an upright-looking, phlegmatic receptionist and an astonished client who, anyway, can't really hold anything against him because, in the end, the receptionist fulfilled the order he was given.
