Explanation
This animal joke might confuse us a bit if we are unaware of two facts: that some people say bats are winged rats; and that until recently pilots were highly desirable boyfriend material, given that had an interesting job and they earned good salaries. Another amusing element is the fact that animals behave like people.
So, we see a rat taking a stroll, chatting to a friend, just like our aunt would, for instance. The similarity with humans is taken further when the rat uses a strictly human criterion to choose a pilot as her boyfriend. The punch line, however, is given by the fact that, instead of it being a mouse with a toy plane, the boyfriend is actually the only living mammal capable of flying, providing an interesting but funny step backwards. Is the rat aware that a bat is not a winged mouse? Has she taken on a boyfriend of a different species just to show off? We never get to find out, but we are still amused by it.

Explicación
Este chiste de animales puede dejarnos un poco extrañados si desconocemos dos cosas: que hay quien cree que los murciélagos son ratas con alas; y que hasta hace bien poco los pilotos eran novios muy codiciados pues tenían una profesión interesante y cobraban buenos sueldos. Otra cosa que nos hace gracia es que los animales se comporten como personas.
Así vemos que una rata pasea por la calle y charla con una amiga como podría hacerlo nuestra tía. La semejanza con el humano no se queda ahí, pues con un criterio que solamente podría corresponder a una persona, esta ratita ha escogido como novio a un piloto. Lo que remata el chiste es que en lugar de ser un ratón con un avión de juguete se trata del único mamífero capaz de volar, con lo que damos un sorprendente pero gracioso paso atrás. ¿Sabe la rata que un murciélago no es un ratón con alas?, ¿se ha echado un novio de otra especie sólo con la intención de presumir? No lo sabemos, pero también es algo que nos hace bastante gracia.
