June Joke: The Coffee

An empty cup

A man walks into a café and says to the waiter.
- Give me an empty coffee cup
To which the waiter replied.
- What do you want that for?
- I just don't feel like drinking anything today

Explanation

Is the protagonist from this story crazy? Probably not … He is just so used to going into his favorite coffee shop that the cup of coffee itself is no longer important to him. So as to not lose his custom, the waiter gives him an empty cup, so at least he has something to hold as he sits at the bar. It seems strange to us that this man would choose to go to the cafeteria if he didn’t want to drink coffee. We can almost imagine the face of the waiter as he tries to decide whether or not it is appropriate to ask the young man to pay. What a strange situation…
