App Mobile

In a previous article we talked about the relationship between children and technology, which has led us to write this article that complements the one written before. Mobile phones or tablets have undoubtedly had a great impact upon our lives; but it is natural to feel anxious, especially with so many applications. Which of these are most suitable for our children? How can we recommend these ones to then?

Firstly, we recommend seeking expert advice: There are a lot of specialized websites where we can find lists of applications that are ideal for certain age groups. Another good recommendation is that we try the application on our mobile, so that we know if it is suitable for our children.

There are specialists that also recommend a first “supervised” use after a test on our mobile: so that we can help the kids “get on with it”, we can see how they manage and we can get an idea of other apps to recommend.

Of course we must look at the description of the app we are going to recommend; but not so much in the description of how to use it. A careful app will have a good and thoughtful explanation.

Last, but not least, we recommend that you pay attention to the development of the app and find out more about the company or the designer. Compare your findings with other apps from the same company, and you will be able to get an idea about their “personality”, what mainstream audience they direct their product to, and also their “seriousness”.

These are only a few tips, but if you follow them, you will be able to advise your children well by encouraging responsible use of their mobile or tablet.
